MEET THE TEAM
Ana Ynestrillas is the Project Lead of the Local Pathways Fellowship at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Youth Initiative. A sustainable cities and innovation advocate, her background combines experience from the public, private and non-profit sectors at the intersection of smart cities, innovation ecosystems and sustainable urban development. Ana previously ran operations at Smart Cities New York where she delivered events that convened global thought leaders to share effective strategies to deploy smart cities technologies. Prior to this, she gained experience in city infrastructure from her time at NYC Department of Environmental Protection and at Efficiency Matters Corporation. She´s passionate about network learning and best practices city exchanges. That is why she works as a Program Associate at the Urban Tech Hub and serves as an advisor to Civ:Lab on connecting local innovators with government, academia, business, and community both within their cities and around the world.

Anastasiya Kostomarova is co-founder and senior advisor of the Local Pathways Fellowship at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Youth Initiative. A climate change and youth advocate, her background combines consulting, data analysis and strategic research at the intersection of clean energy, climate policy, innovation and sustainable urban development. In Paris, Boston and London, she has gained a diverse experience from startup to corporate world, to publishing and international organizations. In Boston Anastasiya supported the Initiative on Violence Against Women of the Harvard Kennedy School, which today makes her particularly passionate about cities that are safe for women and young girls. Anastasiya holds a Master's degree in International Relations from Collegium Civitas in Warsaw, and has spent her graduate year at Sciences Po PSIA, where she specialized in energy and sustainable development.
DAN KOON-HONG CHAN
Dan Koon-hong Chan Co-founded the Local Pathways Fellowship at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Youth Initiative. Dan is also an analyst with a global consulting firm, covering China’s political economy and U.S.-China relations. From 2014 to 2015, Dan was a Chevening Scholar of the U.K. Foreign Office, where his research focused on "city diplomacy" – the role of city-to-city cooperation as an alternative to state-to-state negotiation (see his research here and here). Dan has previously worked with the Asian Development Bank's Cities Development Initiative in China, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) in Singapore, the National League for Democracy in Myanmar, and the Migrant Outreach Education Initiative in Thailand. Dan holds a Master’s degree in International Relations and Public Policy from the University College London and a Bachelor’s in Political Science and Global Studies from The University of Hong Kong.
Yulia Lesnichaya is a Project Officer for the Local Pathways Fellowship at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Youth Initiative. A sustainable urban development and responsible consumption and production advocate, her background combines marketing communications, operations, and project management. Yulia previously worked at Smart Cities New York where she delivered events that convened global thought leaders to share effective strategies and tools to deploy smart cities technologies. Yulia holds a Master’s degree in Communications from the City College of New York and a Bachelor’s in Marketing from the Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics, and Informatics, Russia.
ANA CRISTINA GARCIA
Ana Cristina Garcia is a Project Officer for the Local Pathways Fellowship at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Youth Initiative. Ana brings over ten years of international experience working in various roles, including human resources, finance, business analysis, logistics and customer service. Ana holds a graduate diploma in International Business as Summa cum Laude and Valedictorian from the Universidad Regiomontana in Mexico, and the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Troyes in France. Ana is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Global Affairs at the New York University, where she focuses on sustainable development and humanitarian assistance. Her research interests are within the realm of social and urban development, poverty alleviation, and youth empowerment.
Mounir Kabbara is a Project Officer for the Local Pathways Fellowship at the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network – Youth Initiative. He is currently working as a Senior Consultant with PwC's Cities and Local Government consulting team. Holds about 4 years of experience in city development working a Senior Sustainability Engineer at The Sustainable City in Dubai and as Assistant Manager for Special Projects at King Abdullah Economic City. Has 3 years of experience in water and wastewater treatment. Holds a Bachelor in Chemical Engineering and Master of Engineering Design in Sustainable Infrastructure. Former Curator and Global Shaper of Dubai Hub, the youth initiative of World Economic Forum.
